Rehabilitation exercise plays an extremely important role in the
treatment plan for almost all of our patients. Abnormal joint function in the spine, shoulders, hips and legs often
leads to neck pain, headaches, back pain, shoulder and arm, and hip and leg
pain among other symptoms.
These areas of joint dysfunction never exist as just a fixated or
abnormal joint alone. They are always accompanied by neuromuscular issues
that include muscle imbalances, muscle weakness, muscle inhibition, muscle
tightness, muscle spasm, or decreased muscle coordination.
Each patient examination includes a side and front postural evaluation,
as well as, muscle length, tone, and strength evaluations. A specific rehab
exercise plan is developed for each patient to compliment and support their
individual needs for maximum recovery and function.
It is important to remember that it is the activity of a muscle that
creates the power for movement at a joint. It is critical to address both
the dysfunctional joint movement and the related abnormal muscle function to
ensure a successful outcome for you.
The addition of patient-specific neuromuscular rehabilitation exercises
and stretching results in a much quicker response to care. It makes no
sense to get a joint segment adjusted and adjusted without a rehab program
to improve the muscles that supports that joint! Studies indicate that
patients who receive Chiropractic Care and Rehab Exercise have a much higher
rate of success than patients receiving Chiropractic only or rehab exercise
only.
